When did you become involved in LMSA? What encouraged you to be a part of LMSA?

I became involved in my local LMSA chapter at the end of my second year of medical school. I saw in LMSA an opportunity to enhance the experiences of students at my institution with Hispanic culture and promote awareness of medical issues and health disparities affecting Hispanics in the USA at large. I greatly enjoyed being part of LMSA at Einstein, so I decided that I wanted to contribute to the organization at a larger scale. That brought me to the LMSA-NE Executive Council!

What do you expect to accomplish this year in your position?

As the name of my position suggests, I hope to help bring funds to LMSA! I expect to accomplish this by helping to seek out and apply for grants LMSA can use as an organization. My position is a new addition to LMSA-NE this year, so I hope to shape it into something useful.

Career goals?

I’m currently in the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at Einstein working on computational biology research. I would like to continue working on computational research as applied to medicine in the future, although I am still undecided about my clinical focus.
