When did you become involved with the LMSA? What encouraged you to be part of LMSA?
I first became involved with LMSA at my local chapter. As an incoming first year, I did not know that Drexel had an LMSA chapter. I was excited when I received an email that there was an open position for Community Outreach which I applied and was elected for. I wanted to become involved with LMSA because I am very proud of my Colombian roots. I have always wanted to give back to the Latino community which is not only severely underrepresented in medicine, but also receives lesser quality of care compared to other groups in the U.S.
What do you expect to accomplish this year as Treasurer?
I want to continue the great work of Raul Martinez-McFaline and other previous treasurers. I want to provide the LMSA Northeast executive board with as much money as possible for the many great events we have planned while remaining fiscally responsible. I also look forward to working with an incredible executive council and perhaps even other regions of LMSA.
Career goals:
My career goals are to become the best physician I can be in whatever field I choose. Once I have become that physician, I hope to give back to our Latino community not only here in the U.S, but also in Latin America. I would love to go back to Colombia and help in the poor rural areas.
Hobbies, something that you do in your spare time:
I work-out as much as possible. I also watch a healthy amount of T.V. My favorite hobby is to go out to the Latin clubs in Philadelphia.
