Greetings from the Minority Housestaff Committee (MHC) of the Department of Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell!
We are writing to invite students at your institution to our annual fall event:
“Making Your Match: A Workshop for Minority Medical Students Interested in Internal Medicine”
The event will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015, and will give medical students and trainees the opportunity to meet minority residents and faculty here at NYP/WCMC, and also to engage with leadership in the Department of Medicine on the topic of residency training.
The day’s sessions: We will help demystify the application process with workshops on refining interview skills, picking the right program and a day in the life of an intern. This free event runs from 11:30am to 4pm (with an informal reception after) and is open to students at any level of training who are interested in careers in Internal Medicine. The workshops will be held at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College at 525 East 68thStreet, RM F-539, New York, NY 10065.
About MHC: Making Your Match is organized by the MHC, a resident-run organization established in 1996 by minority housestaff at NYP/WCMC. The mission of MHC is to promote an environment of diversity and inclusion in the Department of Medicine in which all members of the housestaff can achieve their academic best. Activities of the MHC include organizing resident recruitment efforts, supporting fellow minority housestaff, mentoring minority medical students, community outreach, promoting health equity for patients, and networking between students, faculty, fellows and housestaff.
We hope that you will encourage your students to attend, in particular those who are traditionally underrepresented in the physician workforce. We would love to have you attend as well!
