When did you become involved with the LMSA? What encouraged you to be part of LMSA?

I first became involved with LMSA when I was carrying out research at UCSD in California. I was moved by the intense collaboration that takes place between all the western medical schools. LMSA Members are passionate about who they are and what they do. I knew I wanted to be a part of a similar community in the Northeast with other Latinos/Latino-enthusiasts who shared my passion for Latino health. Despite having a million things to do every minute of the day, I am so grateful to continue serving on the NE executive council. This board is foremost a family that loves working together for an amazing cause!

What do you expect to accomplish this year as Developmental Chair?

I am ecstatic to once again be a part of this wonderful executive council-4th year on the eboard! Getting the opportunity to serve as the Co-Director last year afforded me a critical bird’s eye view of this organization. This will certainly guide me, as I concentrate this year on building the membership for the NE region and serving as the liaison for all the chapter leaders. National has rolled out a new centralized membership platform and I will be working closely with them in the full implementation of this new model. Additionally, I will focus on keeping our membership database up to date, starting an alumni database, and finding out what academic/community resources members our members want distributed. I am also excited to work with the mentorship chair, who will be my counterpart and the liaison for the premedical students. Lastly, I hope to continue building wonderful life-long relationships with my awesome LMSA familia!!!

Career goals:
Internal Medicine - Cardiology

Hobbies, something that you do in your spare time:

I love to go hiking and camping with friends in New Hampshire or Maine. I also love movie premieres, biking, dancing, and running! I will be taking a research year next so I am hoping I will have more time to explore Boston and hopefully visit my LMSA pals in NYC more J!
